Job Summary:
The Junior Finance and Accounting Officer will support the day-to-day accounting and finance operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and maintaining complete supporting documentation. The role will handle routine bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and financial record-keeping.
The position will also support month-end closing, budget monitoring, and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with established finance procedures and internal controls. Working closely with the finance team and budget owners, the role will help resolve routine accounting and documentation matters and ensure accurate coding and records in Odoo/ERP. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining accuracy and quality in financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Handle day-to-day accounting tasks including bookkeeping, transaction recording, invoicing, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Support accounts payable and receivable activities, including vendor bills, payment requests, customer invoices, and follow-up.
- Prepare bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations and follow up on outstanding or reconciling items.
- Record transactions accurately in Odoo/ERP with correct project, budget line, account, and analytic coding.
- Support monthly and year-end closing by preparing journal entries, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Financial Controls, Reporting & Support
- Review payment documentation for completeness and compliance and escalate missing or inconsistent information.
- Support budget monitoring and basic budget-versus-actual tracking for assigned projects and activities.
- Maintain complete and well-organized finance records readily available for review and audit.
- Support donor and external audit preparation by compiling transaction samples, vouchers, reconciliations, and supporting documents.
- Work closely with the finance team and budget owners to resolve routine finance and accounting matters
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1–3 years relevant finance experience
- Strong accounting and reconciliation knowledge
- Good Microsoft Excel and ERP skills
- Good Arabic and English communication skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Nice to have
- Experience with Odoo or similar ERP
- Startup, NGO, or donor-funded experience
- Budget monitoring and financial reporting experience
- Experience supporting audits and donor requirements
