As the Venture Co-Builder & Operations Coordinator, you will lead the Venture Studio’s on-the-ground market validation and local execution. While the Venture Studio Lead will oversee overall business strategy, financial modelling, and investor engagement, you will be responsible for generating the market insights and field-level evidence needed to validate and develop new venture opportunities. and coordinating local partnerships.
Responsibilities
Field Research, Interviews & Data Analysis
- Customer & Market Discovery: Independently schedule, lead, and document structured interviews with target customers, business owners, suppliers, and industry experts.
- Field Data Collection: Gather operational data, market prices, supply chain costs, and local benchmarks required to evaluate business opportunities.
- Synthesis & Insights: Analyze interview findings and field observations, translating raw data into clear summaries and recommendations for the studio team.
Local Execution & Partnership Management:
- On-the-Ground Coordination: Act as the primary local representative for the Venture Studio in Khartoum and Gedaref, managing relationships with partner hubs, local businesses, and service providers.
- Site Visits & Field Sprints: Organize, coordinate, and lead field visits, stakeholder meetings, and local research activities.
- Pilot Execution: Lead the practical logistics for running early-stage product or service pilot tests in target markets.
Project Coordination & Tracking
- Milestone Management: Track weekly validation tasks, keeping studio timelines, documentation, and research findings strictly on schedule.
- Field Operations: Help onboard, coordinate, and supervise local field testers or temporary research assistants when needed during pilot phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, economics,
- entrepreneurship, agricultural economics, development studies, project management, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in business research, consulting, project management, startup operations, business development, market research, or a related area.
- Demonstrated experience conducting field research, customer interviews, stakeholder interviews, or market research.
- Strong ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information.
- Good understanding of business models, markets, customers, and commercial value chains.
- Strong local knowledge of the Sudanese business environment, particularly the markets and value chains relevant to the role.
- Ability to operate directly across Khartoum and Gedaref and undertake field visits when required.
- Professional fluency in Arabic, both spoken and written.
- Strong working proficiency in English.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in fast-changing and ambiguous environments.
- Strong organizational and project-coordination skills.
- Ability to turn field observations and research findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, particularly Excel/Google Sheets and PowerPoint/Google Slides.
- Genuine interest in entrepreneurship, venture building, startups, and emerging markets.
Nice to have
- Experience working with a venture studio, accelerator, incubator, investment firm, startup, or consulting company.
- Experience in customer discovery, product validation, business model validation, or market-entry research.
- Experience conducting market sizing, competitor analysis, feasibility studies, or value-chain mapping.
- Experience supporting investment decisions, due diligence, or portfolio companies.
- Existing networks among Sudanese businesses, entrepreneurs, farmers, suppliers, customers, or ecosystem organizations.
- Experience working in fragile, emerging, or rapidly changing markets.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, including data analysis and dashboards.
- Experience preparing business cases, pitch decks, market reports, or investment materials.
- Experience with donor-funded programs, monitoring and reporting, or development projects.
